Eckington is located in the Northwest Quadrant of D.C. Its border consists of Florida Avenue to the south, North Capitol Street to the west, Rhode Island Avenue to the north, and Brentwood Metro Yard to the east. Eckington has a friendly atmosphere and great community feel. It is close to the amenities of the city and is next to NoMa, another up and coming neighborhood. In the residential area of Eckington the streets are lined with colorful row houses, which is a defining feature of this neighborhood. The houses are mainly in Victorian- style, with front porches and small front yards. New apartment and condo developments are also available for homebuyers. 

Eckington does not have direct metro access but has the Rhode Island Avenue and NoMa-Gallaudet metro stations just outside of the neighborhood’s border, and is served by Metrobus lines. There is also a Capital Bikeshare station on Eckington Place, which helps residents get around the area.

Langley Education Campus, Perry Street Prep, and McKinley Technology High School are the main schools in this area.
